WhaleTank
Crazy Idea Pitch Contest

Official Rules & Terms

The boring-but-important fine print. We kept it short.

Last updated June 20, 2026

By submitting a pitch to WhaleTank (“the Contest”), you agree to these rules. WhaleTank is run by the team at freeideas.net. Questions? Email hello@pitchwhaletank.com.

1The Contest

WhaleTank is a contest for the best, craziest, most ambitious, funniest and smartest business ideas. Here's how it works:

  • Enter by submitting your pitch on WhaleTank before August 1st, 2026. It costs $0 to enter.
  • Community upvotes narrow the field down to the top 20 entries.
  • A panel of judges selects the winners from those finalists.
  • Winners are announced in August 2026.

Prizes: the grand prize is $5,000. Second and third place each receive $500.

2Your ideas & intellectual property

You keep full ownership of your idea and anything you submit. It's yours. We're not here to steal your idea, we're here to fund it.

By entering, you grant WhaleTank a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, share and promote your submission in connection with the Contest (for example, showing it in the feed, on social media, or in announcements). You'll always be credited.

Entering the Contest does not guarantee your pitch will be published or featured.

3Prize payment

Prize money is paid via services like Wise or Revolut, in US dollars. The stated USD amount is the full extent of our payment obligation.

Winners receive funds after any currency conversion and transfer fees. We are not responsible for exchange rates, conversion losses, or fees. Winners are responsible for any taxes owed in their own country.

If we are genuinely unable to pay a winner due to sanctions or legal restrictions in their country, the prize passes to the next eligible entrant.

4Eligibility & disqualification

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to win a cash prize. The Contest is open worldwide, subject to the payment limitations above.

Every entry is manually reviewed before it appears on the site. We plan to approve most entries, but reserve the right to hide any we feel aren't a good fit, typically those that are overly inappropriate or vulgar.

You may be disqualified for breaking the submission rules, plagiarizing, or being unable to receive payment. Disqualification decisions are made at the sole discretion of WhaleTank, are final, and we're not obligated to explain them.

5Originality & your rights

Your submission should be your own work, and you must own or have the rights to everything you submit. Don't submit someone else's idea or copyrighted material as your own.

You agree to indemnify WhaleTank against any claims arising from a submission that infringes someone else's rights. Using AI tools to help build your pitch is totally fine.

6No obligation to feature or award

In genuine exceptional circumstances, for example if too few eligible entries are received or submissions don't meet a basic quality bar, we reserve the right to withhold a prize or decline to feature an entry. We fully intend to award all prizes.

7Liability

WhaleTank is not liable for lost or corrupted submissions, for any taxes arising from receiving a prize, or for any indirect losses connected to entering, being disqualified, or participating in the Contest. You enter at your own risk.

8Changes to these terms

We may update these terms at any time, with notice posted on this site. Changes won't apply retroactively to entries already submitted. Where feasible, we'll give direct notice of material changes.

9Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of Delaware.
